Properties
- Design: Single or double-acting sealing lip with sturdy back structure; optional secondary lips for dust exclusion.
- Material: Typically polyurethane (PUR01), also available in NBR02 or VTN01 for special cases.
- Hardness: ~93–95 Shore A (polyurethane).
- Key characteristics:
- High wear resistance for long service life.
- Superior extrusion resistance for medium to high pressure applications.
- Excellent sealing efficiency in static and dynamic conditions.
- Low compression set; retains shape over time.
- Good chemical resistance to hydraulic oils and lubricants (varies by compound).
- Temperature range: -30°C to +100°C (for PUR).
Application
RS03 rod seals are widely used in hydraulic and pneumatic systems to prevent internal fluid leakage and maintain system pressure. Typical applications include:
- Hydraulic cylinders (industrial and mobile equipment)
- Agricultural machinery
- Construction equipment (e.g., excavators, cranes)
- Presses and injection molding machines
- Forklifts, scissor lifts, marine hydraulics
Operating conditions:
- Pressure: up to 400 bar (depends on design and material)
- Speed: up to 0.5 m/s
- Temperature: ~ -30°C to +100°C (PUR)
Installation
- Clean groove and rod; remove sharp edges or burrs.
- Lightly lubricate seal and groove with system fluid or recommended grease.
- Use appropriate tools (tapered mandrels or sleeves) to avoid damaging the sealing lip.
- Ensure seal is seated evenly without distortion.
- Verify alignment before reassembling the cylinder.
